Look of the Day: Say Whatever I Don't Care

Summer is officially over! Which means it is officially time for denim jackets and sweater weather! School is also in full force, which means greater stress and more problems. This Look of the Day was inspired by a lot of statement jackets that I've seen online. When I saw this denim jacket at Forever 21, on sale for $15, I was alllll over it. The fit is perfectly over-sized (I got a Large), the wash is the perfect color, and it's basically an awesome denim jacket and I love it.

 Follow me on lookbook.nu

One trend that I am also loving this fall is leather pants/leggings. I think they are super comfortable (I'm wearing pleather leggings) but they look like that you actually tried to put together a cohesive outfit.

Everything is from Forever 21
Shoes: Dr. Marten's 1461

"Whatever" is somewhat my life motto right now. Not in the sense of living life like I don't care, but rather doing my own thing and not care about what other people think. I think we all need moments when we take risks and realize that we really do only live once, and I would rather go back and laugh at myself for something that I did, than regretting and I didn't do it.

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

Sick Day Makeup: Look Awake with Minimal Products

Tis the season for the common cold! During the recent weeks, the campus has been plagued (pun intended) with some sort of sickness and I was in fact a victim. However, I have to withstand the cold! Despite the way I feel, I came up with a look that made me feel more alive without piling on product after product.

Here are the products that I used for a no-makeup makeup look.

Face:
 Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Setting Powder
MAC Ever Sun Blush
Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Eyes/Brows:
 NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder
Maybelline Falsie's Waterproof Mascara

Lips:
Benefit Posie Tint

Finished Selfie:

I would say the key point of the look is less is more. I focused more on highlighting my face with the concealer, such as the darkness underneath my eyes, the sides of my nose and around my mouth. I also added some color with a blush and bronzer so I look more alive. Brows always frame my face so it's a necessity. For my eyes, I just used mascara to open them up. Posie tint on the lips for that "just sucked on a popsicle" look and you are good to go!

I apologize for my lack of activity on the blog. School is a lot more busy than I had expected. I also need to improve my time management skills ASAP.

For now, I hope all of you are enjoying your week so far!

Happy Thursday!

Back To School 2014: College Room Tour, DIYs, Decorating Ideas

Yay! I have finally settled in to my new room! Today I will be sharing with you all my college room tour. As I have mentioned before, I recently moved in to a house across from my college campus with four of my friends. What is great about living in a house is that we each got our own room, which means more personal space and more room to decorate!

And without further ado, ROOM TOUR!

This is the view from my door. The house did not come with any furniture, but it does have hardwood floors, and white window frames. My room is a light shade of sky blue and I really really love it.

Bed with Storage: Ikea ($180)
I stored all of my personal toiletries, extra towels, blankets, sheets, hair dryer, straightner, curling iron, and many misc items in the drawers under my bed
Side Table: Ikea ($8)
Lamp: Ikea ($15)

Ikea is great.

DIY: Self Painted Canvas Wall Decor

Materials:
Canvas (From Michaels, get it on sale or buy one get one) $11 for 2
Paint (Acrylic) around $1 each

Quote Canvas:
I first entered the font I wanted into a Microsoft Word document, Then I used a pencil to trace the outline of the words onto the canvas. I then just painted in the outlines with paint.

Frame Canvas:
I first painted the entire canvas blue. Letting it dry for around 30 minutes, I then printed out an outline of this frame, and I made outlines with a pencil. Then I just freehand painted the frame white.

Wall board: Kohl's ($11)
Small Clothespins: Michael's ($2)

This is the other side of the room across from my bed. I went for very simple furniture so the room looks nice, clean and bright most of the time.

Book Shelf: Ikea ($20)
Table: Free
Chair: Target ($24)

Here is where I store all of my beauty products. On top, I have all of my hair products, my contact solution, my face lotion, eye cream, etc. The first level on the shelf, I have all of my makeup, brushes, and body butters. The second level on the shelf are my lipsticks, nail polishes and some misc. things. And the last level is actually for books.

Since I don't have too much jewelry, I stuck a mini hanger/hook on the side and hung all of my necklaces and hoop earrings.

My desk space is right by the window and across from my bed. I can't remember where I got the whiteboard calendar, but I put it on the wall to make more space. The lamp is from Target and the desk is relatively large and perfect for doing homework.

This side of the room is right across from the window. I hung up this little chalkboard that I got from Typo for $5 and decorated it with some appropriate text.

There is this weird corner in my room right by the door. This is where I flaunt my K-pop addiction by displaying my two huge Exo posters from the Growl Era and the Wolf Era.

Another thing that I love about my room is the closet. It's honestly the perfect size. It's just large enough to fit all of my clothes, shoes, etc, without it feeling cramped, and it's nice and tucked away so the room still looks big. I know it looks messy, but it's actually quite organized right now.

I was extremely happy with the results of my room. I spent a total of around $250 furnishing my entire room (granted I did get my mattress and desk for free), but it was super affordable!

I hoped you enjoyed touring my room! Let me know what you would want in your college room, whether you live in a residence hall or have your own apartment. Also, let me know what you would like to see more of on my blog!

Have a Super Weekend!

Birthday Outfit and Makeup

I recently turned 20 years old on August 22. I cannot believe that I am no longer a teenager and I feel strange, scared, but confident. I know that my past 20 years have not been exactly the way that I have planned out, but I am optimistic about this year, and the future as a whole. With age comes more responsibilities, independence, and hard work, but I am ready to take on it all.

Before I get too deep into my feelings of being 20 but actually feeling like I'm five years old, I wanted to share what I wore on my birthday. On my birthday, I spent the entire day with my best friend and it was everything that I could of asked for. We went out for sushi and spend the day talking, laughing, and eating delicious sweets. I decided to go for something casual with a touch of glam. My hair was not cooperating that day, so I planned my outfit around my hat.

Hat: Forever 21
Dress: H&M
Shirt: H&M

Belt: H&M
Shoes: Topshop

I paired this jersey material high-low dress with a blue dress shirt and a belt to give it some shape. The shoes adds a bit of height and the hat makes the finishing touch.

Whats on my face:
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
Innisfree Longwear Cushion
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streaked
Tarte Amazonian Clay Smooth Operator Powder
Nyx Eyebrow Cake Powder
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Benefit They're Real Pushup Liner
Urban Decay Eyeliner in Perversion
L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
Maybelline Color Whisper in Made it Mauve

Comment below to let me know whether doing makeup tutorials are something that people will be interested in seeing! I will be more than happy to give them a try!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Here's to another happy year :)

Happy Labor Day!

Look of the Day: Hello Sailor

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates for the past week. I am now officially moved in to my new house along with my four other housemates and the beginning of my Junior year of college is right around the corner. The past week I have been busy with my job training, new student orientation planning, and just catching with friends and running errands around the house. But I have yet to neglect this blog, and I will be writing an update post very soon.

For now, here is another Look of the Day post. In this outfit, I played around with black and white and rocked these new white boyfriend jeans. I never even thought about wearing boyfriend jeans because I always thought that my body type didn't allow me to (I have curves that I though wouldn't make boyfriend jeans flattering). However, these white distressed boyfriend jeans from Gap are really comfortable and rather flattering. And they were even more awesome because they were on sale for $13.

I paired a striped top along with a masculine belt for that nautical look. I think this look is fresh and a nice transition into fall.

Top: Forever 21
Pants: Gap
Belt: Goodwill
Shoes: Franco Sarto

Again, I apologize for my lack of activity on this blog and also my lack of participation recently in the blogger community. However, be on the look out for more Back to School posts!

Have a Wonderful Friday!

Look of the Day: Out on the Shore

It's a rainy day here in southern Minnesota and I have only two more days until I go back to college. While summer has been great and relaxing, I'm so excited to go back to the routine and order of school. Coming up I will be doing a back to school basic makeup look and also my new college room tour, so be on the look out for that!

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I took a short trip to the Mississippi river shore where the view was amazing. I wore a flowy and light weight maxi skirt so it could flow effortlessly with the wind.

Top: H&M
Bralette: Aerie
Maxi Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Topshop
Bag: Vintage Coach
Belt: Thrifted

I never really found a way to wear my lace tank top from H&M on its own, but this time I tried to wear it with a delicate bralette and I think it looks pretty casual and nice. This is more of a summer beach and a stroll out in the sun kind of look but I won't think it will be appropriate for situations such as school and work.

How do you wear see-through or lace pieces? Feel free to let me know!

Happy Thursday!

Back to School 2014: Trendy Styles for Fall

It's almost back to school season (or it might have already started for you) and it also means that it's almost time to rock some fall fashion! Fall is my favorite season and I am so excited to share some of my favorite fall styles. I have put together some outfit ideas surrounding three key fall essentials that is necessary in my fall wardrobe. Hope this post will give you some ideas about how to transition your summer pieces into a new fall look.

Trend #1: Plaid

Entire outfit from Forever 21
Shoes: Dr. Marten's 1461

Here I paired my crop top/muscle tee hybrid with what I think is one of the quintessential staples of fall - a plaid shirt. You can go ahead and throw on your flannel as well! Here I layered my plaid shirt with a denim jacket (which I'm holding in the picture, but if the weather is chilly, a denim jacket is the perfect layering outerwear.) I wore my pleather leggings from Forever 21 (which is on sale now for $8) along with some comfortable flats that go with everything I have.

Here I have some outfit ideas that incorporates a plaid shirt. Plaid with leather gives an edgier look, while paired with boyfriend jeans and some black booties gives a casual and tomboyish vibe.

Plaid

Trend #2: High-Waisted Pants

Cardigan: Thrifted
Top: Loft
Pants: Forever 21
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Dr. Marten's 1461

Bringing the high-waisted trend into the fall, a pair of high-waisted jeans will add just a bit of attitude into any normal outfit. I got these high-waisted jeans on sale from Forever 21 and they fit like a glove. I recently thrifted this heavy and warm cardigan from Clothes Mentors and I am absolutely in love with it. I rolled up the sleeves to give the sweater some shape and paired it with a simple white botton-down. This monochromatic look is perfect for those days when you want to look nice but you don't want to stand out.

Here I have two different looks incorporating high-waisted jeans. The outfit on the left is what I normally would go for: a little darker, a little edgier and rebellious. The outfit on the right is very cute in my opinion as well, a bit more girly with softer and lighter colors and a bright blue backpack.

High-Waisted Pants

Trend #3: Denim Vest

Tee: Aerie
Denim Vest: Forever 21
Shorts: Forever 21
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Topshop
Scarf: Aldo

Since it is not quite fall yet, there is still time to wear some shorts and tees. In this very casual look, I paired my denim vest with some high-waisted paper bag shorts and a decorative scarf. This was my go to casual -I'm doing nothing today but going to the grocery store- look for the summer.

When you have the right denim jacket, it will be super easy to style because it would match everything. Here are two different outfits where, again, I incorporated two different styles. The outfit on the right is a good summer look, which I paired this awesome denim vest from American Eagle with a cute, flow-y dress, a sun hat, and some cute white oxford flats. The look on the left is my fall look, which I paired the same vest with a cropped gray sweatshirt, some distressed high-waisted skinny jeans and a red beanie.

Hope this Lookbook/outfit ideas was someone interesting and helpful! Let me know which trend you like the best and which look you preferred. Also, what are some of your favorite fall essentials that you can not live without! Feel free to comment below!

Have a gorgeous Sunday :)
